House Update

I have been without a computer for several days now, and I feel like I am so out of touch with everything. We don't have TV, I don't listen to the radio, and I haven't been to church all week because Jackson was sick...so I really haven't had much contact with the outside world in a while. =D I am back now though, and I thought I would share some pictures of the updates to the house with you all.

Things have been very slow going with the repair due to Keith's work schedule, and then we had a few unexpected things come up that had to be fixed as well. On Friday, he took the whole day off to work on the house. The kids and I made sure we stayed away from the house most of the day so he could get a lot done. He was able to get a lot accomplished, for which I was very thankful. It is so hard living in chaos and construction, and we have been for 3 months now. I'm ready for it to be done, he's ready for it to be done...we need it to be over with soon so that we can regain some semblance of normal before he leaves in a few months.

I'm not sure if I ever detailed what we are doing in the kitchen, so I may be repeating myself here but this is what we have done. We took down the wall between the kitchen and dining room and added an island/peninsula of cabinets. We also got new countertops, a new sink and a new faucet. Also, all of the floors had to be replaced. We are almost 100% complete with the structural things that had to be done and are about 40% complete with the cosmetic changes. I am loving the way it is turning out and in a way I am thankful for the flood, because we never would have made these improvements otherwise.

Here are a few pictures of our work in progress.

The cabinets before they were installed. I was having to store all the food on the table. =)

The new island/peninsula with the wrong color of stain. Oops!

This is where the rooms used to be separated by a wall.

A Day of Rest

Today Baby Jack is pretty sick with a cough, runny nose, and ear ache so we decided it was best to stay home from church and have a day of rest. Most of our day was spent being lazy, sitting around the fireplace...

making funny faces...

playing games...

and building forts...

Keith and Tyler went to church today, but the only time I ventured out was for a quick trip to Little China for this...

Friday Foto Fun

Life seems to be busier than ever here at the Lawhon Ranch. We have had two birthdays, a workday, Missions Conference, and two two-week exercises with extended duty hours for hubby in the past month. Add to that the everyday tasks of life, and that doesn't leave much time for meaningful blog posts. I do have a couple of special posts planned for the near future however, one of which is an awesome story about God's provision. Until then, I hope you enjoy some of the pictures from recently.

Howdy Pardner!

He is so stinkin cute!

Messy Marvin

Twins!

Isn't that precious?

He is getting so big!

Doesn't he look so mischievous here?

Look at his little "toofers". #8 is on the way.

Some Things I've Learned Recently

-It only takes one raccoon and a hubby on night shift to ruin a perfectly good night of sleep

-Things are 77.23% more likely to break when your husband is not home, than when he is **

-A writing utensil in the hands of a toddler almost certainly spells disaster

-There is at least one place in my house that I have yet to discover, and that is precisely where my camera battery charger is hiding

-I will never be enough for some people

-Garbanzo beans will stick to your ceiling like super glue

-There are some foods I just can't stomach no matter how healthy they are

-I love roadtrips

-Walmart starts playing Christmas music in October

-All good relationships require work

-The thought of flying for 30 hours with 2 small kids is frightening

-I have too much "stuff" in my life

-Good friends are hard to come by

-As much as I try to like cold weather, I just don't

-God is good, all the time!

My Not-So-Little Boy Is 3 Today

I can't believe that it has already been 3 years since my little man was born. In some ways it seems like only a year has gone by, but in other ways it is hard to remember life without him. They really do grow so fast, don't they?
Lord willing, we will be having a joint birthday party for him and Jackson Friday night. I should have more pictures then. =)
