Today Tyler and I had some business to attend to in Warrensburg (the nearest thing to civilization in these parts), and since the hubby is not coming home for lunch this week (that's another story) we decided to go exploring. I found a huge, 55,000 sq. ft. antique/junk store. It was 3 stories. I only went on one. I can't explain how much "stuff" there was to look at in this place. I can't wait to take Keith there so we can look at other people's stuff together. :) While I was there, I was able to find a very neat birthday present for my daddy. (Daddy, if you're reading this stop now.) It was a Harper's magazine from May 1887 in near perfect condition. He's somewhat of a history buff, so I think he'll like it.
Now, to the reason that my hubby isn't coming home for lunch...They are on 12 hours shifts right now and aren't allowed to leave their little "area" all day. And, in Air Force speak a 12 hour shift really means 13 to 14 hours. He left at exactly 6 this morning and said he wouldn't be getting off until about 7:30 tonight. Poor guy. But, the silver lining to all this is that he has plenty of time to study for his upcoming promotion test while he's at work. While on that subject, say a little prayer for him concerning his test if you would. I jokingly told him every time he gets a raise, I get a baby! If only it worked that way. :)
The little man and I are partying a little too hard tonight since Daddy isn't here. We're blogging (of course), listening to a Lester Roloff tape (love his preaching), eating popcorn, and drinking Coke. Don't everybody turn green with envy at once now! You can throw your own cool kid party!
Have a super-d-dooper day, y'all!
P.S.-I think it would take a seasoned mathematician to calculate the exact number of fat rolls the Wee Man now has! His body looks like one of those really wrinkly dogs.

House Hunting Update
We decided not to go any further into negotiations with the house we made an offer on. We made an offer and their counter-offer led us to believe that we wouldn't reach a mutual agreement, so we pulled our offer. We have now put in an offer on a very nice home in a great neighborhood near the medical district. This home is a 4 br, 3 ba home with 1800 sq. ft. I can't believe it. It seems so huge compared to what we're used to. We made an offer this morning and should hear back from the owners by 5:00 tonight. I'll keep you posted. Here's a picture of the new house. (It's prettier I think!)

Deep Thought of the Day
How does a person as frugal as me willingly pay $5 for a cup of coffee???
In honor of a recent trip to neighboring town, Sedalia, MO, where I discovered a Starbucks is being built...Yup, right out here in the middle of nowhere! I am so excited!!

Household Tips
My aunt sent me this via email this morning. I had seen it before, but had forgotten some of them. Some of these I have tried and they actually worked, others I haven't tried yet but seem like good ideas. I really should have tried the ones about baby powder at the beach and killing ants while we were in Okinawa. And the one about expanding frosting-Has anybody ever tried that? I never seem to have a enough.
Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set
Heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No
Soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really
Works.
Broken Glass
Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of
Glass-the fibers catch ones you can't see!
Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the
Glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser!
Works better than a cloth!
Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot
Water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your
Ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes
Right out.
Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all
Broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up
Mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into
Egg. Just throw bag away when d one easy clean up.
Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with
Your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to
Frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less
Sugar/calories per serving.
Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place
Them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will
Keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
Newspaper weed s away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet
Newspapers: put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover
With mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some
Gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
Reopening envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include
something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for
an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.
MINE!!!!!
If you purchase a new bike for your child, place their picture inside
The handle bar before placing the grips on.
If the bike is stolen and later recovered,
remove the grip and there is your proof of who owns the bike.
Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or from under the fridge
add an empty paper towel or gift wrap roll to your vacuum.
It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a
Clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when
Wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and - voila - static
Is gone.
No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket.
It will keep the mosquitoes away.
Take baby powder to the beach
Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When you're ready
To leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder and
The sand will slide right off your skin.
Easier Thank You's
When you throw a bridal/baby shower, buy a pack of thank you cards
For the guest of honor. During the party, pass out the envelopes and have
Everyone put their address on one. When the bride/new mom sends the
Thank you's, they're all addressed!
Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than
Shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great
Way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried
It in your hair...
Good-bye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple
Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. You will
Find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it
"home," & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so,
especially if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets
or small children being harmed!
A Serious One
Folks, please take time to read this post. I had never seen this blog until today, when I saw a link to it on another friend's site. Please read her latest post and keep this family in your prayers.

Baby Houdini

My first true mommy-panic moment: At about 2:30 the other morning I woke up and reached over to check on the baby. All I found was his diaper. Y’all, I thought my baby boy had been raptured or something. This was no hallucination, because I was up and out of that bed in a fraction of a second. With all the force my adrenaline-pumped body could muster, I jerked those covers back…and found my little boy peacefully sleeping in the buff!! How it happened I still don’t know…

Too late for a New Year's resolution?
I've seen this several times before, but every time I read it I decide I need to drink more water.
1. 75% of Americans are chronically
dehydrated.
2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism
is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's
metabolism as much as 3%.
4. One glass of water will shut down midnight
hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied
in a University of Washington study.
5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime
fatigue.
6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10
glasses of water a day could significantly ease back
and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger
fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math,
and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on
a printed page.
8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases
the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash
the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%
less likely to develop bladder cancer.
On another note, these are the cupcakes I made for the Hubby to take to work today. They're not really as pretty as I hoped they would be. Oh well, I tried.

Week in Pictures
Hi Everybody,
I'm finally back to functioning semi-normally. I went back to TN for a week and then my mom and step-dad were here for a week. We had a really good time, but of course it was terribly busy.
My baby turned 4 months on Wednesday. Wow! Time flies! He weighed 17 pounds exactly at his appointment on Friday. He is such a cutie. He is rolling over now and has found his toes...but unfortunately can't do much with them because that big ol' belly of his gets in the way. Ha ha!!
Enjoy the pictures...

My Daddy Is An Airman
.jpg)
My daddy is an airman
he’s often gone away
to some far off country
where he has to stay.
I really miss my daddy
and I’m not sure what he does
except he helps other people
who need him very much.
At night when I say my prayers
I ask to keep daddy safe
so that he can come home to us
and sit in his favourite place.
Some nights I can hear mommy cry
when she thinks I’m asleep
I know she misses daddy
and her sadness hurts real deep.
I know that a day may come
when daddy won’t come home
and it scares me even thinking
that we will be alone.
My daddy is an airman
he’s often gone away
And I am so very proud of him
each and every day.
Come home to us daddy
When your job is done
I know that those people needed you
But they aren’t the only ones.
